The origins of Grande Stevens Law Firm can be traced back to that of Manlio Brosio, who gave up to practice law after Liberation in 1945 and embarked on a political and diplomatic career (Deputy Prime Minister, Ambassador in Moscow, Paris, London and Washington, then Secretary-General of NATOo and Senator of the Republic of Iitaly).

The Firm passed into the hands of his greatest pupil, Dante Livio Bianco, a pre-eminent scholar in civil procedure, who died in a mountaineering accident when he was only 44. The Firm was then temporarily directed by Prof. Paolo Greco, a leading scholar in commercial law, and Carlo Galante Garrone (who gave up his career as a magistrate to this purpose and then embarked on a political career by being elected to the Senate of the Republic of Italy in several terms of office), and regularly co-operated with Piero Calamandrei.

Franzo Grande Stevens was a young pupil when he entered the Studio in 1953. He has since enriched it with colleagues and collaborators, organized it and devoted himself to the practice of commercial law, both in litigation and out-of-court work. He has published many articles on this subject and lectured on "Corporate Accounting" at the University of Turin. Avvocato Grande Stevens has also devoted his work to the legal profession (the "Avvocatura"), having been a member of the Turin Bar Council, President of the Attorneys' Pension Fund Board and President of the National Bar Council. He can be held as the founder of the Studio, that now bears his name, with offices in Turin (main office), Milan and Rome.
